Missionary Recruitment and Training

The recruitment pipeline for missionaries will vary depending on what kind of missionary they are.

The most common for this initiative will be the Missionary Educator. These will make the bulk of our schools’ teaching faculty with some outside and local hires mixed in. These will be salaried positions.

Those who have gone through all three tiers of the Missionary Trainee Program can apply to become a full time Missionary Educator at one of our schools. Also, the Head of School may, at their discretion, extend a formal offer to those who previously served at the school without having to go through the application process.

Trainee Missionaries will comprise the following three positions:

Interns

Usually short term missionaries only in the field for no more than two months and no less than one week. They will act as childcare, play with kids during recess, run games with the kids, and administrative tasks. During the summer, they will work with the vocational school to help teach job and business skills. This tier is either for those looking to try missions for a short time or seasoned professionals hoping to pass on their skills and then return home.

Residents

These are missionaries who stay in the field no more than 180 days and no less than 60. Generally, these are previous interns who wish to further explore missions at a slower pace. They will have a regular work schedule around the school and be expected to attend staff meetings. They will be provided lodging and a weekly stipend but are encouraged to raise supplemental support. A final summary report will be required at the end of their residency. This will help them if they wish to pursue the next tier of mission training.

Attending

These are mid-term missionaries who stay in the field no shorter than one year and no longer than four. This is a serious commitment to mission work and tent-making missions as a whole. Schools will only be allowed two Attending Missionaries at one time. They will be responsible for managing the Interns and Residents as well as ensuring their successful training. Attending will be considered full time staff at the school and have all the same benefits. Additionally, Attending Trainees can apply for assistance in getting a teacher’s license and Master’s Degree while serving at the school.
